Artistic Director Delainey Harmer

Hi! My name is Delainey Harmer and I am incredibly excited to be one of Silhouettes Dance Companies Artistic Directors this year! I am a third year at UofT studying Political Science and English as well as going into my third year with Silhouettes. I began dancing around age 3 and continued as a competitive dancer until I graduated. Silhouettes then offered me a wonderful opportunity to continue dancing and allow my passion to grow through University. Silhouettes has been such a wonderful and loving community and I am so incredibly thrilled to be one of the ADs for this amazing company. I cannot wait to see what wonderful things are to come this year!

Artistic Director Divina Sum

My name is Divina Sum! And I'm one of Silhouettes '24-'25 Artistic Director. This is my fourth year in both Silhouettes and UofT, and I'm doing a double major in History and Psychology. I started dancing at the age of eight, primarily learning ballet through the RAD graded and vocational syllabus. Over the years, I've branched out doing other styles such as contemporary and have attended summer intensives where I've been exposed to other styles such as modern and jazz. However, only at Silhouettes have I really been allowed to branch out into different styles and learn from so many talented choreographers. By doing so, has strengthened me as a dancer and has allowed me to move away from the more technical areas that has rooted much of my childhood. Dancing has now become more of a freedom of expression than only being one of technical aptitude, and I owe Silhouettes for instilling that into me. 

Being a part of the Silhouettes community has been such a highlight of my University life. I'm honoured to be working alongside Delainey to be your co-Artistic Director. I'm eternally grateful to be able to give back to a community that has given so much to me and, I'm excited for what this year will bring!

Show Producer Juria Katakawa

Hi, I’m Juria and I’m in my third year at UofT double majoring in Criminology & Socio-legal Studies and International Relations and minoring in Philosophy. This is my second year in Silhouettes, this year as Producer! 

I grew up dancing competitively in ballet, modern ballet, jazz and street dance but took a break near the end of high school. Moving to Toronto and discovering the plentiful open classes offered reignited my love for dance, specifically contemporary (fusion). When I’m not taking dance classes, I love going to pilates and boxing classes, reading, and discovering new cafes/food spots (and report on them on beli, follow me ;))!  

Dance, particularly ballet, has taught me discipline like no other for better or worse. Although I still struggle with my love-hate relationship with dance, I chose to be in the company so that I  could choreograph again. I am eternally grateful for Silhouettes for providing me with a platform to bring my creative visions to life.

Financial Administrator Chloe Byrne

My name is Jaimee and I am this year’s Financial Administrator! I am a third-year double majoring in Psychology and Criminology. This will be my third year in Silhouettes and my second year as the Financial Administrator. I have been dancing for the past 17 years now and have tried several styles of dance, my favourites being Jazz funk and Chinese Dance. I have joined performances and competitions for Chinese Dance in Hong Kong, while Jazz Funk has become my recent favourite. I am also very into K-pop cover dancing as well! Dancing has given me various experiences and opportunities to meet people who love dancing as I do. I have met so many great individuals in Silhouettes and have found a home here. I am really looking forward to the coming year as we work together to prepare for our Final Show!

Company Administrator Lalin Ece Events Coordinator Erin Zheng

Hi, my name is Erin and I am the Events Coordinator. I am in my third year at both UofT and Silhouettes, majoring in Human Biology and Immunology with a minor in Physiology. I am from Vancouver, but a part of my childhood was in China, where I first started dancing in Chinese Dance. Later, I shifted to Contemporary and Jazz, and my interests broadened more after I came to university and Silhouettes. I really appreciate how diverse our community is. I have met so many awesome people and got to explore various dance styles. I am excited to work in the exec team and look forward to an amazing year together!

Hey everyone! My name is Lalin and I am so excited to be your Company Administrator this year! This is my second year in both Silhouettes and University of Toronto. I am in Industrial Engineering. I feel so lucky to be a part of this company and get to dance with all the amazing people. I have been dancing since I was three but I started dancing professionally in high school. Since coming to Toronto I have started trying new styles but my favourites are contemporary and jazz funk. I hope we have an amazing year together!

Media Coordinator Emily Tatham

Hello loves! My name is Emily Tatham and I am the Silhouettes Media Coordinator for the 2024-2025 Season! I am in my fourth year at UofT pursuing a bachelors of science in Kinesiology and Physical Education. This is my third year at Silhouettes Dance Company- and I have loved every second of it. I started practicing ballet at 2 years old, and since then I have trained in other disciplines such as; modern, contemporary, lyrical, jazz, tap, musical theatre, and hip hop. Being a part of the Silhouettes Dance community has allowed me to continue my love for dance, whilst also being able to connect with some of the most incredible individuals I have come across in my university journey. I am so thrilled that I get the opportunity to give back to this community of skilled dancers along with the rest of the amazing executive team I have the honour of working with. I am forever grateful for the impact that Silhouettes has made on my life, and I hope to share the beauty of this company with you all through our media and at our end of year show!

I am so excited to work with you all and create another year filled with memories and fun! :)
